Get Ready to Slide Your Way to Fun: 2026 Beaver County Snow Shovel Riding Championship is Here!
Brace yourself for an exciting adventure this winter as the 2026 Beaver County Snow Shovel Riding Championship is here! Scheduled for Saturday, February 14th, this event is going to be a blast for everyone who loves the winter season. The championship takes place at the beautiful Old Economy Park, just off Route 989 in Economy Borough. In the event of a cancellation, the rain date will be Saturday, February 21st.
The best part about this event? Everyone is welcome to join, and there is no registration fee! The rules are simple – sit or lay on a shovel, push off from the starting line, and stay on the shovel while sliding down the 165-foot hill to the finish line. Each contestant gets two timed runs in their division (except for the modified division where only one run is conducted).
Excited to know what’s in store for the winners? Prizes will be awarded to the first and second place winners in 4 categories, including, Children’s under 10, Teens 11-15, and Adults 16, and the entertaining Modified Division. The Modified Division is an all-ages race that allows the use of other sledding devices as long as a full-sized, straight-edged shovel is touching the ground and attached. Prizes are given based on the fastest time.
To join the fun, head to the Maintenance Building, across from the Barn, at Old Economy Park for registration on Saturday, February 14th from 10 AM to 11 PM. Children under 13 must have a parent or guardian’s signed waiver for participation. Practice runs are open until the start of the event, which begins at 11:30 AM.
The Snow Shovel Riding Championship promises to be a day full of fun and laughter, with support from the Beaver County Board of Commissioners, the Department of Recreation and Tourism, the Department of Public Works, and volunteers.
